Typical

Yeah, just another typical Friday for me...it's tough being me sometimes.

I have a theory: when I straighten my hair to MJ's 'P.Y.T' in the morning I have a better day. Test it out.

Everybody have a sweet, sweet weekend.

etsy photos

I recently came across Alice B. Gardens photography on etsy. Her shots are so whimsical and soft. The vintage Nancy Drews are a tad nostalgic- I was all about those books when I was young. Aspiring sleuth.

late weekend

Friday evening we did yoga, grabbed some Lolita's, and relaxed with our house guest for the weekend, Cosmo (a dog).

Saturday, after a lazy breakfast in the sun, we went down to Torrey Pines. I got F a gift certificate for a tandem paragliding ride for Christmas, and he finally honored it this weekend! Saturday's conditions were perfect for the ride.

Apparently the flight had made us both tired, so we relaxed (again) in the sun.

Late afternoon coffee and reading (my book is sooo good) while F played tennis.

Saturday night we met up with F's friend from SLO at El Camino for some drinks and dangerous queso dip. Dangerous.

We proceeded to scour Little Italy for a bar open past midnight but never found one. But F did get this shot.

pure gold

I have to tell the world about the blog my sister just told me about. Hyperbole and a Half. I started reading it for the first time this morning and was laughing, then crying, then had cry/laugh snot running out of my nose. It is the funniest thing I think I've ever read. Do yourself a favor and check it out. Best Thursday morning ever (thanks, Tory).

Yum.

I'll be celebrating spring by making this dessert this weekend. I'll enjoy it in the evening sun with an iced coffee and some Billie Holiday.

And what the hell, maybe I'll make these too....

I have a bit of a thing for chocolate...

(thanks, Martha S.)

weekend adventures

F and I had another great April weekend. Friday after yoga we met up with friends at the Cask Room downtown for a glass, nay, three bottles of wine.

Saturday I started the morning off with my first (ever) hot yoga class (loved it). Then F and I met up with some friends for beach volleyball..I have bruised forearms. After the beach we were beat so we played a relaxing game of scrabble, stuffed ourselves with food and watched 'Iron Man' on the projector.

Sunday was gorgeous. I rode my bike to ze cafe for coffee and brunch with F and his fam. Then back to the beach to meet up with friends and bask in the sun reading. More scrabble in the evening with F and just a little 30 Rock to wind down.

Wow, this outfit is so me it's ridiculous. I must have right down to the adorable yellow pumps.

fashionable

Well, I happened upon a very dangerous blog last night, rdujour, where I spent an unhealthy amount of time drooling over the outrageously expensive clothes that ridiculously chic/rich women get to buy.

Some personal favorites...

weekend

Well I'm getting better..just a day late with the weekend post. This weekend was uneventful in the best way. I was sedated a bit by some very strong antibiotics for that damn tonsilitis, so I took it easy and it was great. I headed up to Los Alamitos to visit the fam while Francis went snowboarding with friends in Mammoth.

We watched movies, played games, went out to dinner, I let my sisters tear through bags of clothes I cleaned out of my closet and I treated myself to long overdue new running shoes. And I took a little trip down memory lane and found my all time favorite book from when I was little.

we love scattegories

beautiful watercolor illustrations

I also had a wonderful and much too brief visit with an old friend. (Bon voyage, Samantha!)

way belated weekend

Blerg! I can't believe it has taken me until Friday to post the adventures of last weekend. Between work craziness and the random onslaught of tonsilitis this week, I'm a bit behind schedule.

So, last weekend we had some wonderful company. F's friend from Germany stayed with us for the weekend. Friday we treated ze German to delicious vegetarian Thai food downtown and exposed her to the genius of 30 Rock.

Saturday after a leisurely morning, the three of us hopped on bikes and met up with some friends for an afternoon picnic in Balboa Park. Wine, cheese, salad, beer, cookies, more wine, board games, and frisbee....equals recipe for an awesome picnic.

Easter Sunday was wonderfully lazy for me. While F and ze German joined in Easter festivities, I slept in and caught up on ma' stories in the morning (aka Medium and Project Runway). Later we rode through Balboa Park to the zoo where we met up with more friends of Francis, ze Canadians. After a thorough tour of the zoo, including the mayhem of the earthquake, we headed home for some r&r and a backyard fire. It was another wonderful weekend adventure.
