El Paso move-in

I recently returned from my first 'move-in' experience with Pamela Smith Interiors. We flew to our clients' newly built house in El Paso, Texas for a week and a half. We moved our clients completely into their new home, right down to the clothes in their closets, the spices transferred to their sleek and appropriately labeled containers...need I say more? It was a great experience, first to see the house in person after looking at it in autocad for over a year, and second to see the house transform over the days that we were there. Though mentally and physically exhausting, I'm glad I was able to partake in the move. My thoughts on El Paso: unique in a sleepy, desert town sort of way...interesting and beautiful at times.

Glad to be home.

Gretchen and I about to take off on the way to El Paso.

Gretchen and I spent weeks making these mosaic Koi fish. Each fish took about 4 to 5 hours from start to finish. So exciting to see them installed! They look so beautiful and fluid in the water. If you need some mosaic work done, we're your girls.

The Kitchen table made from a beautiful antique Japanese door. An amazing light fixture hangs above, the drop of which is about 15 feet. Yes those are sheep in the background.

The view from the Dining room. Though we didn't see any during our time there, the guys working on the house said it's not uncommon to see deer grazing here in the early mornings and evenings.

Family room. Kudu hides cover these ottomans.

Living room. Marble table on steel base. Amazing coffee table arrangement by Krislyn, located in LA (anyone who is into interesting arrangements and such should check out the Krislyn website).
The yard just outside the Family room. The landscaping turned out really great.

African mask. About twice the size of my head.

Perfume! Beautiful bottles.

Looking out the front door towards the Guest House.

Legs.

Local color.

I should work for Men's Warehouse.

I became a little obsessed with the view. It was breath-taking.

We watched the most amazing sunsets from the house.

The best part of the trip was watching the weather. Desert weather is amazing and ever-changing. There were a few lighting storms during our stay and some crazy wind storms. The weather was more sporadic than I'd anticipated, very enjoyable...from indoors.

Some fun summer outings

A few summer outings for which I had my camera include a trip to the Getty, a trip to Santa Barbara with Tory to watch Allie dominate the soccer field and some other fun little things.

Santa Barbara

Walking along the beach-side craft fair in Santa Barbara with Tory.

A fancy-shmancy dinner date with Francis.

The quintessential 1st year anniversary lunch date at In 'n Out.

Comic Con

It's been a fairly busy summer 'round these parts. Things at the office are busy, but I've still managed to squeeze in a few fun outings. One of the highlights of the summer, naturally, was ComicCon. A friend of mine and Francis', Ed, is an artist (http://mrushiro.blogspot.com/) and does signings at ComicCon; he gets a few free passes and threw two our way last year and this year. While it's not technically my 'scene', ComicCon is probably the most amazing 'people watching' location ever. It is held at the San Diego Convention Center just about bursts at the seams with comic book, anime, and graphic novel enthusiasts, to name a few.

So many people. So much swag.

Transformers...I think?

Elaborately customized USBs. Seriously.

Savvy?

The boys from 'Five Second Films'. Genius.

Go to the Serenity Booth!

I can't take credit for the photo above or the photo below.
