last night

After an innocent happy hour turned into an epic-5-hour-happy-hour-marathon, I looked something like this when I woke up (late) this morning for work.

Friday

Alas, 'tis Friday. It's time for sleeping in, crafting, bbqs, foreign movies, and campfires.

Everybody have a fabulous, much deserved three-day-weekend.

weekend extravaganza

The weekend was busy and fun. Friday evening F and I walked to Starlite for happy hour...and had a little too much fun with my camera (see below).

Saturday we got ready for our friend Gretchen's surprise party. I decorated, baked, napped, and partied.

Sunday I napped again and saw 'Iron Man II' with my beloved.

Saturday was party day. Bailey, her friend Monica, and I decorated for the party in the morning. Mimosas and 80s music played a big role in the decorating process.

After a disco nap and a very anxious wait for the birthday girl: it was party time.

blerg! it's monday. again.

It's Monday again, folks. Mondays have been sneaking up on me. I'm a bit behind from all the margaritas, dessert baking, napping, and surprise partying from the weekend. Fabulous weekend post to come tomorrow.

In the meantime, I'd like to say hello to my beautiful sister Tory and her husband Carl who are in Kyoto, Japan! I don't know any Japanese, so bon voyage!

Life-betterment June

I need a June resolution. I think I shall promise myself that I will make a conscious effort everyday (yes, everyday) to either organize, work on a non-work related project, or learn something new.

I've been feeling a bit creativity-stifled and unorganized as F and I slowly combine our things. There are so many things on my mental list that I want to either learn, try, bake, clean, watch, read, etc etc. No more excuses, Christina. June- here I come.

I will get organized.

double feature

This weekend we drove up to Orange County, again. We relaxed in the sun, walked around Belmont Shore in LB, ate a lot, and watched The Informant!. The best part was seeing my younger sister off to prom. All the girls wear short dresses now...we wore long dresses in my day. Ah, how the great divide grows.

Ah, Monday. Monday I had a mini-adventure when I had to drive to West Hollywood (from downtown San Diego) to deliver some fabrics. Francis agreed to accompany me as my co-pilot, navigator, diamond lane access, DJ, and moral support. Having company helped make the trip less grueling..I even had a little fun.

The best part of the day was being treated to lunch at the hip recommended West Hollywood restaurant 'Lemonade'. To.Die.For. The food was amazing..so many vegetarian options, and the lemonade was delicious (tried regular and watermelon-rosemary).

After the long drive back F and I decided to walk down to El Camino in Little Italy for happy hour and end the night with a backyard fire. Then we saved a bird.

slacker and bird saver

I know I'm late posting about the weekend...no excuses really, just exhausted. It was a relaxing weekend above all else and I dusted off the ol' polaroid camera to take some fun, blurry shots. I'll be getting my ducks in a row tonight so check back tomorrow for some weekend goodness (that's a promise).

On a touching side note- Francis and I had a little house guest last night.

We were having a backyard campfire when we heard an awful squeaking noise that sounded like a bat...a very, very close bat. I shined my headlamp (nerd) in the direction of the sound and found a bully-cat terrorizing a baby bird (it wasn't a young baby...probably an adolescent bird, but baby bird sounds better).

Francis chased off the cat and we found the baby bird on the ground, still alive and scared to death. St. Francis gently captured it and put it into a luxurious box with water and a towel in which we were hoping it would either calm down, or pass away in peace.

Lil' bird slept in the box all night. It was alive when we woke up this morning so we took it outside hoping it would fly away. Much to our delighted surprise lil' bird was coaxed out of the box by its kin (probably its kin) and flew away.

Although I can't take much credit for saving the bird as my only job throughout the ordeal was 'light shiner' (and I don't think Francis was 100% pleased with my performance), I am very glad the little guy is alive and well.

Huzaah.

two little birds

Ah this vase is so me it's unbelievable. I want.

Francis likes to tell me I don't need any more vases which makes me wrinkle my eyebrows in confusions and give him the 'I don't understand what you are saying' face. It looks a little bit like this:

oh, the nostalgia

Of course at the tippy-top of my 'favorite movies of all time' list is 'Anne of Green Gables' and 'Anne of Avonlea'. I love these movies. I always used to watch them when I stayed home sick from school and I still love to cozy up on the couch with some tea and watch them when it's cloudy out.

If you haven't seen it I'm speechless and demand that you must rent...nay, buy it immediately if not before.
