Seattle, Part II

After seeing the Space Needle, we made our way to the water. The coastline of the Pacific Northwest is gorgeous, all the islands and the ferries...love. We soaked up the scenery a bit then weaved through downtown to the Seattle Public Library. You guys, this library is sweet. It's the coolest library I've ever seen (not 'cooler' than the Library of Congress per say, Dad..just different). It has fluorescent escalators, floor-to-ceiling red hallways, and glass all around.

We explored downtown for a few more hours, grabbed a Jimmy John sandwich and made our way north to Fremont. F was on the hunt for a 'troll under the bridge' somewhere in Fremont. We found it, and I don't know what I was expecting, but it is just that. It's a giant troll sculpture under a bridge. After a photoshoot with the troll and a sunset walk by the water, we crashed at our hotel in Everett. The next morning we were headed Vancouver-way, taking a suggested detour on Chuckanut road (aka Highway 11) next to the water. Worth the winding roads.

Seattle, Part I

We're back. Our trip was fantastic. We walked miles upon miles, took a bajillion photos, I'm still full from the food we ate, and it's good to be home.

Seattle was awesome. I'd never been and I think I left a little piece of my heart there. We were lucky enough to have sunshine most of the day (and no rain!) while we poured through the city on foot. We hit Pike's Place market first (naturally) and it didn't disappoint. It was great starting the day with something quintessentially 'Seattle' like Pike's. We stocked up on surprisingly good fruit (I thought all fruit was bland outside of my beloved California) for our stay.

We wandered through downtown towards the Space Needle, stopping for fuel in the form of decadent baked goods, Seattle-style. Not wanting to shell out the dough to get on the the inside of the Space Needle or the Rock & Roll Museum, we explored their surrounds. Stay turned for Part Deux....

weekend + trip

We kicked off the weekend with a much needed happy hour at Starlite, complete with a hibiscus marg and a towering plate of garlic french fries. Relaxation and errands ensued the rest of the weekend for me, as did studying for Francis. We made a special evening bike ride to Extraordinary Desserts for some much needed decadence and subsequent sugar overload. Sunday we cleaned, packed, and drove north. You see, we are leaving this evening for a five day trip to Seattle/Vancouver, BC. And we are excited.

Back next week with photos and tales.
