We Owned a Puppy for One Night

{aka The Best Night Ever}

I didn't mention in the weekend post that Francis and I were the foster parents of the cutest puppy in the world for one night. Here's how it happened:

Saturday evening we returned from a picnic (see previous post) to find a frightened puppy hiding under a car across the street. I wasted no time scooping her up into my arms, looking for a tag (none), and calculating how long it would take us to find a new apartment so we could keep her. It turned out that she was an adoptee without a foster home for the night. Long story short we fenagled our way into caring for this pup for a glorious 15 hours, squealing over her cuteness and not caring at all that she woke me up at 6am Sunday morning.

Cutest Thing Ever.

*apologies for the blurriness of most photos. It was extremely difficult to photograph her sitting still. Puppy Wigglies.

Weekend

Apparently everyone was born in July so a big chunk of our weekend was spent celebrating some birthday or other. I'm not complaining*, just explaining that when it rains it pours. We had our first and last dining experience at Corvette Diner with some friends, complete with burgers, shakes, and air hockey. The Saturday birthday round took us to Encinitas to celebrate with F's family by way of bocci ball, hacky sack, and Argetina vs Uruguay. Sunday we joined more friends for a BBQ and I ate my weight in cheese.

*I'm trying to train myself not to complain. It's harder than it sounds. Most of my complaining happens while driving (it's genetic) and usually goes something like "ugh, god - can you believe this guy?". And so far most of my energy has been spent attempting to convince Francis (cause supporter and referee) that when I say that, it's not a complaint, but more of a fact. "55 in the left lane, that's great. What an idiot. You see? That's a fact. I don't think anyone else on the road right now would argue that he isn't an idiot. I'd also like to factually state that I am very hungry."

Progress.

wall calendar

I have a love/hate relationship with wall calendars. I loathe those wall calendars sold at mall kiosks with classic trucks or baby animals on them, but I love the practical usefulness of them. Luckily I came across the perfect wall calendar for fastidious customers like myself. Behold...

Weekend

This weekend was a bit slower paced than last. Friday night we enjoyed dinner with friends followed by Midnight in Paris followed by me subsequently deciding on the spot that we will honeymoon in Paris followed by post-movie dessert. Our big-plans-Saturday-turned-lazy-day included Scrabble and old seasons of Top Gear*. Sunday we hit the beach for a few hours, had some post-beach In-n-Out and more Top Gear, followed by a much needed In-n-Out- induced nap for me. Once rested I spent a wonderful evening with friends at a local (and impressively authentic) Spanish tapas bar, complete with sangria (delicious and Monday Headache-inducing, but worth it) and live flamenco.

*Top Gear is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows, if you're not watching it you should be. And if you don't get British humor or are offended by British humor I'm not sure we should be friends....

Breaking the silence

I haven't been inspired to take many photos lately and the photos I have taken look a bit uninspired. Sorry, kiddos. Lets all look forward to more frequent posts.

We had a very eventful 4th of July weekend, though recapping all our activities will make this post long and redundant for the weekend did go something like this: wake up, breakfast, beach, lunch, home, shower, out with friends, sleep.* Repeat. It was a wonderful three days and we were able to see scores of friends we haven't seen in a while.

Weekend: A+
Weekend Photos: Fail
