It is a gloriously gloomy spring day today. This weather never fails to make me want to curl up somewhere with my book and coffee. I think I could do just that in any/all of these spaces...

Ummm...does this come in my size? I would get married in this so fast. It is fabulous. I'm wondering if I could pull off this hairstyle too....

weekend

This was one of those amazing, spotless-sky weekends that feels longer than it is.

We did some wining and dining downtown Friday for le birthday.

Saturday was gorgeous, so we just had to head down to the beach to bike ride and sleep in the sand. Watched a bit of crew on the bay. Had margaritas and an evening fire.

Sunday was lovely, morning bike ride, reading at the cafe, Sunday lunch with new friends, and some birthday shopping after three glasses of wine. Wonderful day.

Heading out tonight for some celebratory birthday wine drinking with friends. Time to dress up.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone. I know I will.

Keepin' it simple

I love simple, understated flowers. What can I say? I'm a simple girl, with simple taste..and a skinny-minny wedding budget. Mason jars will be everywhere on the big day. I've already started collecting.

These pretty arrangements are inspiring me today. Me thinks I shall put wedding prototypes together one of these days...stay tuned...

I'm getting married

Yes, I'll say it: I have been obsessed with weddings for longer than I care to remember. Wedding gowns..drool, flowers..swoon, sweet sweet venues...tear, cool photography...score. I heart weddings. I love attending them, pretending to have my own, dreaming about them, etc.

And then I got engaged.

Okay, actually planning a wedding is overwhelming. Where in the hell do I begin? I have begun with a 'dream' journal of such...a sort of collage journal of all my inspiration, hopefuls, etc. But even that got overwhelming. I have sort of stopped collecting and dreaming over the past few months for lack of motivation. But the more I get lost in the wedding blogosphere the more optimistic I become that planning a wedding is what I make it and it can be a blast. So, alas, I have a second wind and am ready to press on. Lets pop some bubbly.

Now, most important things first...I would absolutely, positively love to waltz (yes, waltz) down the aisle in one of these...

Sarah Seven, I will have one of your dresses some day. Yes I will.

Oh..and..

It's my birthday. So I get one of these.

weekend getaway (!)

My beloved surprised me with a mini holiday in Boulder, Colorado to visit my sister and her husband for my birthday. We. had. a. blast.

First things first, we flew in early Friday morning and it was a winter wonderland. Tory picked us up in Denver and we headed to Boulder. After a disco nap for F and I, we hung out a bit then donned our snow gear and headed downtown for dinner. We grabbed dinner at Leaf, a vegetarian/vegan restaurant (vegan enchiladas = yum). After dinner we walked to a wine bar for a glass of wine and to see Carl (bro-in-law) play jazz.

Saturday we went out for a long walk and a bit of frisbee in the sun and fresh snow. Boulder is absolutely gorgeous. I love how the snow covers everything with a blanket of silence..so serene.

After our walk we built an epic snow sculpture. It began as an igloo that turned into some sort of creature. We were getting loads of support from the locals.

On Sunday we had a lazy morning then spent the afternoon walking around town, doing a bit of shopping and grabbing some Mediterranean cuisine for lunch. No buffalo for us this time around.

The trip was awesome and a much needed getaway. Plans are already in motion to return this summer for more adventures.

belated weekend fun

I've had to neglect this poor blog for the past week. I've had a foreboding work deadline and then was whisked away for a surprise birthday weekend away with F. And then I had the flu. So much going on! So here is a belated weekend post for the weekend before last...

F and I went up to my family's house for the second weekend in a row. We had a little engagement photoshoot at Griffith Park in LA on Saturday evening, hence the reason for our trip north. In addition to the shoot, we waxed my car for the first time ever..very exciting stuff. We played Scattegories with the family; I'd almost forgotten how fun that game is. On Sunday, the youngsters, F, and I headed to the beach for some afternoon frisbee golf and a walk on the pier.

It was a really wonderful weekend.

drink up

I believe I've confessed my love for ceramics and vintage mugs/teacups. Well Anthropologie just pulls at those heartstrings with their beautiful drink and dinnerware (and then they mock me with their prices).

I do have a special fondness for their monogrammed cups, one of which I officially own with a brilliantly decadent 'C' on it. Feast your eyes on my anthropological favorites.

Summer

The time change, the weather, and a few hours at the beach this weekend left me yearning desperately for summer. Cold ocean, wet sandy hair, late sunsets, ahh- give me summer. Soon enough, my friends.
